Performing arts is a genre of its own. Typically, the event must be photographed without flash of any sort, as unobtrusively as possible, while capturing the essence of the story on stage. Working around a paying audience during a live performance takes courtesy and speed.
Adapting quickly to ever-changing lighting requires strong knowledge of the camera's limitations. Shooting to capture lighting design is separate from shooting the performance itself. The subject is in motion, often very fast, in the dark. Capturing effective imagery under these conditions is trickier than you might think.
As a dancer/choreographer, Laura has the ability to detect and track movement as well as the timing to catch the peak moment in the phrase. She has experience shooting dance of all kinds: jazz, tap, modern, hip hop, musical theatre, contemporary, and at least 100 Nutcrackers. :)
We are so sure about our performance photography that we GUARANTEE 200+ fantastic images, or we will shoot again for free.
